De Pussycat Dolls nemen eerst de metro en ontregelen vervolgens het verkeer bovengronds. Dat gebeurt uiteraard in typische Pussycat-stijl: met veel dansen en schudden dus. Die arme Timbaland raakt er helemaal van in de war.
Ik kan er ook niet echt een touw aan vastknopen (er wordt volgens mij iemand achtervolgd, en er is iets met een nieuwe gadget van Samsung die hooguit 10 of 15 keer close-up in beeld wordt gebracht. Heus, het valt nauwelijks op) (kuch kuch product placement kuch), maar het verhaal doet er natuurlijk ook niet echt toe. Dat kan de doelgroep gestolen worden. Die wil hun favoriete meidengroep gewoon stoer zien paaldansen in een ietwat groezelige omgeving, zoals een metro. Om zodoende het vage edgy en underground imago van de groep (hoewel nergens op gebaseerd) in stand te houden. In dat opzicht doet de Wait a minute video wederom precies wat hij moet doen.
En ondertussen is het Timbaland die hier echt de show mag stelen. Terwijl de PCD’s er vooral zo voordelig mogelijk uit proberen te zien voor de camera, leeft Tim Mosley zich helemaal uit in zijn rol en is met al zijn gekke gezichten en grappige karaktertrekjes een genot om naar te kijken.
En de muziek?
Dont Cha zullen ze wel nooit meer overtreffen, maar het moet gezegd dat Wait a minute weer één van hun betere singles is. Het zit veel knapper in elkaar dan je op het eerste gezicht zou denken. Door het vele gebruik van het zinnetje wait a minute lijkt het aanvankelijk een wel erg simpel liedje, maar schijn bedriegt. Hoe vaker je hier naar luistert hoe meer details je beginnen op te vallen. Leuk!
